BANGOR — The University of Maine women’s basketball team rallied from a three-point halftime deficit to beat North Dakota St. 64-59 in the regular-season opener Thursday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
Maine guard Ashleigh Roberts scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Liz Wood finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing a team-high 13 rebounds for the Black Bears as well.
Maine, which trailed 37-34 at the half, held a 46-38 rebounding edge.
Brooke Lemar scored 12 points and Bree Whatman added 11 to pace North Dakota St.
Maine returns to action Saturday against Bryant at the Cross Insurance Center.
