Nearly 7,700 electric customers in Maine remain without power after high winds caused outages across the state.
Central Maine Power reports more than 7,600 outages early Monday, with communities in Oxford and Franklin counties reporting the most. That’s down from a high of about 28,000 on Sunday afternoon.
Bangor Hydro Electric was reporting just a few dozen outages Monday morning, down from a high of 4,700.
A National Weather Service wind advisory was in effect until 6 a.m. with gusts up to 45 miles per hour possible.
In New Hampshire, about 26,000 Public Service Co. of New Hampshire customers had no electricity Sunday night, and another 6,800 homes and businesses served by the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative were in the dark.
WMUR-TV reported that Interstate 93 in Concord was reopened Sunday after a wire that fell across both lanes of the highway near Exit 16 was removed.
In Vermont, Green Mountain Power reported nearly 900 outages Sunday night.
