FARMINGTON — A New Sharon woman was sentenced to 21 days in jail Tuesday for providing alcohol to two teenage boys who crashed a stolen truck while drunk in June.

Caryn B. Savage, 27, of New Sharon, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of allowing a minor to consume liquor in exchange for the state dropping felony charges against her in connection to the incident, according to Franklin County Court documents. She was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. Her jail sentence begins 9 a.m. Monday.

Savage was summoned in June for the incident after Adam King, 19, of Newfoundland, and his 15-year-old passenger were injured in the crash on Weeks Mills Road in New Sharon about a mile from Savage’s residence, where they got the alcohol. Police determined the pickup truck they were driving, which was destroyed in the accident, was taken without permission from a Harmony man.

The 15-year-old was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with a head injury.

King was charged with operating under the influence in an accident involving a serious injury. He had been living in New Sharon as a permanent resident, with a green card from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

King pleaded guilty Nov. 14 and was granted a deferral on the sentencing of his case until Nov. 14, 2014. If he is not charged with new criminal behavior in the year, the charge will be withdrawn and he will be ordered to pay $1,000 fine and lose his license for 90 days, according to court documents.

He was also ordered to pay $1,720 in restitution to the owner of the destroyed truck.
