PITTSTON — An hours long standoff with police Tuesday ended just before midnight when a man was taken into custody.
Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said the man confronting police cut himself intentionally, but there were no other injuries as a result of the standoff.
The man, who was not identified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
There have been no charges in connection with the incident, McCausland said.
The standoff began mid afternoon when police responded to a report of a suicidal man hold up inside his East Pittston Road home. The State Police Tactical Team responded and negotiators spent several hours attempting to talk to the man, McCausland said.
East Pittston Road was blocked in the area throughout the standoff, McCausland said.
