WORCESTER, Mass. — Interstate 290 westbound in Worcester has been closed due to multiple car crashes on icy roads.
State police report that more than 70 cars, two tractor trailers and a box truck were involved in accidents on the highway on Sunday.
A section of Route 9 also has been closed and accidents have been reported on Route 146.
State police are advising area residents to avoid driving if possible.
