Saturday: A 71-year-old man was charged with driving too close to an emergency vehicle after he reportedly missed a Maine State Police cruiser’s side mirror by inches as the cruiser, with its blue lights flashing, was in the breakdown lane of Interstate 95. The driver told the trooper he was trying to get in front of a tractor trailer by passing it on the right.

Saturday: A 34-year-old Hermon man was charged with criminal mischief by police responding to a mischief complaint on Vassalboro Road. The man told police he was trying to find his estranged wife and intentionally damaged personal property.

Dec. 5: A 31-year-old Gardiner man was charged with false attachment of plates during a traffic stop on U.S. Route 201. The driver told police he had just bought the car and hadn’t had time to register it, so he put plates from his Ford F-150 pickup truck on the Volvo.

Wednesday: At 2 a.m., Benjamin Michael Peterson, 28, of Chelsea, was arrested on a warrant on State Street.

3:17 a.m., Robert W. Metcalf, 22, of Augusta, was arrested on a warrant on State Street.

12:53 p.m., two people were arrested by police responding to a shoplifting complaint at the Hannaford supermarket on Whitten Road. Tricia Lynne Barry, 40, of Chelsea, and Brianna M. Harger, 32, of Waldoboro, were each arrested on warrants. Harger also was charged with theft and violating conditions of release.

Dec. 2: Jason Thomas, 32, of China, was arrested on a charge of violating probation and drug trafficking during a traffic stop on Route 3.

Saturday: William Scott, 34, was charged with domestic-violence criminal mischief and criminal trespass by police responding to a complaint on Vassalboro Road.

Saturday: Kenneth Tukey, 49, was arrested on a warrant during a traffic stop for a seat belt violation on Cemetery Road. Tukey was charged with operating after suspension, possession of a suspended license and possessing/consuming alcohol while driving and an open container on a public way.
