SKOWHEGAN — A Wellington man accused of gross sexual assault in Moscow is among those indicted by a Somerset County grand jury.

Cory Coldwell, 25, of Parkman Road in Wellington, is charged with the sexual assault of 26-year-old woman in Moscow on June 20. He was arrested Dec. 7 after he was indicted by the grand jury Dec. 5.

The victim “was unconscious or otherwise physically incapable of resisting and had not consented to the sexual act,” according to court records.

District Attorney Maeghan Maloney said her office took the case to the grand jury before making an arrest, which often happens in sexual assaults.

An indictment does not determine guilt, but that there is enough evidence to proceed with formal charges and a trial.

Coldwell was released on $2,500 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Somerset County Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 22.
