Dresden man sentenced

in pharmacy robbery

A Dresden man has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for a June pharmacy robbery in Bath.

Nicholas Alexander, 23, was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Portland to 28 months in prison and three years of supervised release. Alexander had previously pleaded guilty to taking part in the June 14 Walgreens robbery.

Alexander handed the pharmacist a note demanding oxycodone and threatening to kill him if he didn’t hand over the pills, U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II said in a news release. Alexander was later found in a Wiscasset motel with oxycodone tablets. He later admitted to robbing the store, using some of the tablets and selling others, Delahanty said.

The robbery was investigated by local, county and federal agencies.
