HINCKLEY — The L. C. Bates Museum will host a free girls science series with visiting scientists and hands-on experience on the following schedule of events:

• Science Role Models is set for 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 9. Participants can meet a marine biologist, soil scientist, microbiologist and vertebrate biologist and hear about their work.

• Trail Adventures will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 30. An outdoor walk to explore tracks and signs along the trials is planned. Participants can investigate how spring is beginning and see the changes in the woods.

• Vernal Pool Investigating is set for 7-9 p.m. Saturday, April 19. A night exploration of the vernal pool is scheduled. Participants can document what species are found with a herpetologist who specializes in frogs.

• Pushy Plants and Alien Animals: Maine’s Invasive Species is slated for 1-3 p.m. Saturday, April 26. Participants can investigate what can be done to help prevent the spread of invasive species in Maine.

• Presentation of Scientific Findings is set for 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 4. Present what is found on the trail, in the vernal pool and the discoveries thatmade the careers of local scientists. The museum will have a small exhibit space of your work.
