State police reported no new information Wednesday following a stabbing reported on a remote road near the Wilton-Chesterville town line.

A 33-year-old Readfield woman reported that she was stabbed in the arm after her car broke down after 7 p.m. Monday on McCrillis Corner Road. The woman told police a man stopped to offer help, stabbed her and then fled after she put up a struggle.

Police are asking anyone who drove near the area that evening and saw something to report any information to the police.

“There’s no new information that I’m aware of today and I’m not aware of any motorists that came forward,” Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said Wednesday.

The woman told police she was able to restart her car and drove herself from the scene three miles to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She described her assailant as about 5-feet 10-inches tall, with a goatee and wearing a mad bomber hat, and said the man was driving a white Chevrolet pickup.

Police asked that anyone with information to call state police at 624-7076 or 1-800-452-4664, or call Wilton police at 645-3876.
