Moral and economic sense call for all Mainers to rise up and fight for this help to our 70,000 fellow citizens, by supporting — and letting their legislators know it — the fight against Gov. Paul LePage’s refusal to accept the federal program that would expand MaineCare and provide decent medical care for those in need.

For a healthy, vibrant and strong Maine sense of purpose and economy, this help must be unimpeded by those who seek only selfish ends. We either stand united, or we fall together in disarray and discord.

I urge others to let their legislators know that they support the extension of this help to our 70,000 friends, family and neighbors.
