JEFFERSON — The Jefferson Historical Society has been awarded a $1,000 grant to help preserve and provide better access to its historical collections as part of the Historical Records Collections Grant Program administered by the Maine Historical Records Advisory Board, with funds from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.

The grant will be matched by the historical society with money and volunteer labor. Archival storage materials will be purchased to store documents, paper materials and photographs, as well as special protection for store and business ledgers.

The grant program is coordinated in Maine by the State Archives. For information about the Historical Records Collections Grant Program, call Jane Roberts at 287-5791 or email janet.roberts@maine.gov.
