One person injured
in Route 202 crash
WINTHROP — One person suffered what were believed to be minor injuries Friday in a crash on U.S. Route 202.
The names of those involved were not immediately available, but Winthrop Police Officer Timothy Falvey said one woman was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with complaints of pain.
The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. as the two cars were headed west on U.S. 202. The first car slowed to make a left turn into the Winthrop Veterinary Clinic parking lot. The driver of the second car, who was reportedly blinded by sun glare, didn’t see the brake lights and hit the first car from behind.
Both cars had to be towed away.
Traffic in both lanes was closed for about 10 minutes and reduced to one lane for about 30 minutes.
