A Norridgewock man was arrested and charged Thursday with sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy over several years, according to a news release from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.

Joseph Handley, 66, of Norridgewock, was charged with unlawful sexual contact and unlawful sexual touching after the sheriff’s department received a complaint about the boy on Dec. 19, according to the release.

Handley had previously been convicted of two counts of gross sexual misconduct and one count of unlawful sexual contact and is a lifetime registrant on the Maine Sex Offender Registry.

Handley is scheduled to appear in Somerset County Superior Court Wednesday.
