MADISON — Police are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins and thefts, including two stolen vehicles that were reported Sunday.

A total of eight vehicles were broken into early Sunday morning and all unlocked, according to Cpl. Joe Mitchell of the Madison Police Department. In addition, two vehicles were reported stolen but were later recovered, one in a snowbank on Carter Road and another at the intersection of Jones Street and Hidden Acres Drive. The thefts occurred on Carter Road, Nichols Street, Jones Street and Shusta Road, said Mitchell.

Among the items taken from the cars were loose change, some battery-operated tools, a flashlight and CDs, said Mitchell. There are no suspects yet but police are working on the case, said Mitchell.

“We have three officers working on it and we’re trying to figure out who did this,” Mitchell said. “We’re following all leads as they come in.”

Police asked that anyone with information to contact the Madison Police Department at 696-5373.
