LEICESTER, Mass. — Messalonskee graduate Maddi Kadnar scored five goals while freshman Jaclyn Langevin added four to lead the University of Maine at Farmington to a 15-7 win against Becker College in women’s lacrosse action Saturday. Ayla Allen, Alaina Shorey and Mara Balboni added two goals each for the Beavers (1-1). UMF goalie Hannah Goodenow stopped 12 shots while Shleby Wicks made nine saves for Becker (1-3).

COLBY 8, CONN. COLLEGE 1: The 12th-ranked Mules nearly blanked the Camels thanks to 14 saves by goalies Michelle Burt and Claire Dickson in New England Small College Athletic Conference action in New London, Conn.

Colby (3-2, 2-2) had eight players score the eight goals, with four coming in each half. Alex Mintz and Katharine Eddy both had one goal and one assist for Colby. Sara Miller, Dori McAuliffe, Lindsey McKenna, Dana Swaffield, Emilie Klein and Sarah Lux also tallied for the Mules.

UNE 21, THOMAS 11: Senior Hannah Tavella scored eight goals and Gina Newsome added four to lead the Nor’easters to the nonconference win in Biddeford.

Travella also had two assists for UNE (5-2). Macki Hill chipped in with four goals as well.

Belgrade native Miranda Tinsman scored four goals to pace the Terriers (2-4).

MEN’S LACROSSE

Regis 13, UMF 7: Nicky Rodrigo scored five goals and three assists to lead Regis to the nonconference win in Weston, Mass.

Peter Fucci had two goals for Regis (1-0) as well.

Seven different players scored for the Beavers (0-1), with Brandon Melville and Jake Linkletter each finishing with a goal and an assist.

CONN. COLLEGE 10, Colby 5: Chad Sawyer scored three goals and added an assist as the Camels rolled in New London, Conn. Thomas Woessner also scored for the Camels (5-2, 2-1 in NESCAC).

Mark Philipps scored three goals to pace the Mules (4-2, 2-2). John Grimaldi and Austin Sayre also scored. Jack Bratches, Brendan McNeill and Hunter Moore all had assists for the Mules.

BASEBALL

USM 17, AMHERST 12: Messaloskee grad Sam Detxer had five hits while Gardiner grad Forrest Chadwick added doubled, singled and drove in three runs to lead the University of Southern Maine to the win in Winter Haven, Fla. Matt Verrier added four hits and four RBIs for the Huskies who completed their Florida swing at 9-3.

MAINE 4-1, UMBC 1-2: Tommy Lawrence scattered eight hits, fanned eight and walked one to lead the Black Bears to the America East win in Baltimore, Md. Jonathan Salcedo had a pair of hits for Maine. Mac Gill allowed five hits for UMBC (4-10, 2-3), in Game 2. Maine is 8-15 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

MEN’S TENNIS

THOMAS 9, JOHNSON ST. 0: The Terriers dropped just 12 games in winning their first match of the season in Waterville. In doubles, Eric Morin teamed with Tyler Small, Jonte Roussel with Federico Trujillo and Malcom Marshall with Caleb Mora for victories. All six players won their singles matches for Thomas (1-2) in straight sets.

Also Saturday: Cony graduate Cassie Diplock scored six goals to lead St. Joseph’s College lacrosse to a 10-7 over Norwich.
