AUBURNDALE, Fla. — The top four batters in Colby’s lineup combined for 13 hits Tuesday as the Mules defeated Kalamazoo 10-0 in non-conference baseball action.
Leadoff hitter Colin Cummings collected four hits and scored three runs while No 2 hitter Nate Ellis also had four hits and scored twice. JasonBuco, batting third. had three hits and three RBIs while cleanup hitter Alec Finigan had two hits and drove in three runs. Kevin Galvin also had two hits in Colby’s 19-hit attack.
Starter Luke Geoghegan allowed three hits in seven innings and struck out 10 en route to the pitching win. Colby (4-1) plays a dobleheader against the University of Chicago on Thursday.
RIT 8-9, THOMAS 1-4: Rochester Institute of Technology swept the Terriers at the RussMatt Invitational in Auburndale, Fla. Nik Beeson had two hits and an RBI for Thomas (0-4) in the first game while Ethan Henderson had a pair of hits and drove in a run in Game 2.
Colby splits: Carylanne Wolfington’s sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning scored Katie McLaughlin as Colby rallied for a 5-4 win against Calvin College in Clermont, Fla. Colby (3-4) lost 6-0 to Elmhurst College in a second game Tuesday.
The Mules tied the game at 4 in the top of the seventh inning when Emily Schatz doubled and pinch-runner Maria Ennamorati scored on a base hit from Brianne Wheeler. Meaghan Lewia addeda two-run triple for Colby.
HUSSON 10, THOMAS 5: Brandon Corbo scored four goals and Vinny Visconti added three to lead the Eagles to the North Atlantic Conference win in Bangor. Gunnar Shelton scored two goals for Thomas while Jordan Marino, Caleb Runci and Oleg Deyle scored one each. Carlos Cardona made seven saves in goal for Thomas (0-6) while Eric Lund made six stops for Husson (2-2).
NE COLLEGE 28, UMF 3: Adam Shute scored four goals while Jonathan O’Brien and Liam Peck added three each to lead the Pilgrims (6-1) to the win in Henniker, N.H. TC Peters scored twice for UMaine-Farmington (0-2) while Michael Keith added a goal.
