AUGUSTA — A Monmouth man was sentenced Tuesday to five years in jail, with all but six months suspended, and two years’ probation for possession of sexually explicit materials depicting a child under 12.

Carroll Edwin Cooper Jr., 52, had pleaded guilty in October to the offense, which occurred April 3, 2012, in Monmouth. The sentencing was held Tuesday in Kennebec County Superior Court.

Conditions of probation ban Cooper from possessing electronic devices that can access the Internet and from unsupervised contact with children under 16.

A number of other people were sentenced Tuesday in separate hearings in Kennebec County Superior Court:

• James Barnes Jr., 50, of South China, operating after habitual-offender revocation and operating under the influence Dec. 5, 2013, in Augusta; five-year jail sentence, all but four months suspended, two years’ probation, $1,600 fine, three-year license and registration suspension.

• Sarah R. Blaisdell, 32, of Rome, unlawful possession of oxycodone June 26, 2013, in Mount Vernon; $400 fine.

• Shawn Breton, 38, of South China, terrorizing Aug. 22, 2012, in Augusta; 364-day jail sentence, all but 146 days suspended, one-year administrative release.

• Derrick R. Cram, 32, of Clinton, domestic violence assault Dec. 29, 2013, in Clinton; three-year jail sentence, all but nine months suspended, two years’ probation.

• Carolyn Delgado, 23, of Waterville assault Nov. 10, 2013, in Waterville; 14-day jail sentence.

• Ty Donahue Beard, 36, of Fairfield, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and misuse of identification Aug. 1, 2013, in China; two-year jail sentence, all but 90 days suspended, two years’ probation, $1,503.95 restitution.

• Nicholas S. Dudley, of Vassalboro and Augusta, four counts of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and onc count each of burglary of a motor vehicle and misuse of identification Sept. 18 to Oct.9, 2013, in Augusta, China and Waterville; 18-month prison senence, $1,234.91 restitution.

• Jonathan T. Flood, 23, of Farmingdale, domestic violence assault and violating condition of release Feb. 2 in Augsuta; 90-day jail sentence.

• Timothy Godin, 21, of Belgrade, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer Aug. 1, 2013, in Belgrade; 30-day jail sentence, $250 restitution.

• Ashley Grazioso, 21, of Augusta, three counts of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, two counts of criminal trespass and one count each of burglary of a motor vehicle Oct. 13, 2013, in Augusta; three-year jail sentence, all but 10 days suspended, two years’ probation; $130.65 restitution.
