I always get a chuckle going from the town of Mercer to Norridgewock. Oh, excuse me, the sign erected by our very own Department of Transportation spells it “Noridgewock” with just one “r”!

Perhaps they should have checked with the town, informing them that they have been misspelling their town’s name for hundreds of years.

One would think that with the couple of guys doing the sign installation and the three or four employees who came to watch, maybe someone would have noticed the misspelled name.

But then again, the DOT workers might have job security in mind. After all, next year they can come out and do it all over again.
