A New Sharon couple is charged with possessing heroin after an investigation into their apparent overdose last week.

A child reported the overdose and might have saved their lives last Tuesday by calling a relative who then dialed 911, according to the Maine State Police.

The relative initially reported that two children came home from school and found two adults in the Farmington Falls Road residence unresponsive and possibly dead.

Trooper Keith Barton charged Daniel Villacci, 27, with furnishing the heroin; and Tabatha Schoubroek, 29, of New Sharon, was charged with possession of heroin, state police Sgt. Matt Casavant said in a news release. Both are class C crimes and punishable by up to five years in prison.

Barton based the charges on evidence that Villacci allegedly provided the heroin to Schoubroek the day of the overdose.

Both Villacci and Schoubroek are scheduled to appear in Franklin County Unified Court at 8:30 a.m. June 24.
