GARDINER — Brittany Rollins pitched a one-hitter and belted a pair of doubles to lead Gardiner to a 12-0 win against Maranacook in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B softball game called after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Rollins fanned 11 and walked one, surrendering just a single to Lindsay Jackson in the fourth inning. She also added a single to Gardiner’s 12-hit attack. Bri Brochu tripled and singled for the winners Katelyn Boyington singled twice. Gardiner is 2-0, Maranacook is 1-1.

MESSALONSKEE 14, LEWISTON 0: Kylee Knight and Kirsten Pelletier each had three hits in a six-inning win for the Eagles (1-0) Friday in Lewsiton. Sophie Holmes, Sierra McLellan and Cassidy Baker chipped in with two singles each, while Kassi Michaud and Pelletier combined for the shutout in the circle.

MADISON 6, HALL-DALE 2: Emily McKenney pitched a three-hitter and had three hits herself as Madison defeated Hall-Dale in a battle of the Bulldogs in Farmingdale.

McKenney struck out 10 and walked three. At the plate, she singled twice and doubled. Kirsten Wood and Aly LeBlanc added to the Madison attack with two singles apiece. Madison is 1-0.

Hall-Dale (1-1) scored twice in the first inning for a 2-1 lead. Olivia Maynard drove in one of the runs.

BASEBALL

Messalonskee 7, Lewiston 2: Devin Warren had a triple, two singles and four RBIs as the Eagles sank the Blue Devils in a KVAC A game in Lewiston.

Ben Frazee struck out six and walked two before being relieved by Josh Casey in the fourth for Messalonskee (1-0).

Lewiston dropped to 1-1.

Oak Hill 9, Mountain Valley 0: Parker Asselin struck out nine and allowed five hits and Dalton Therrien had a triple and an RBI as the Raiders rolled in Wales.

Brandon Pomerleau chipped in with a pair of singles and an RBI as well for Oak Hill (2-0). Jake Bannister had three hits.

Mountain Valley dropped to 0-1.

HALL-DALE 16, MADISON 3, 5 inn.: Hall-Dale scored 11 runs in the fourth inning to seal its Moutnain Valey Conference win in Farmingdale. Taylor Lockhart abd Brian Allen each doubled twice and singled while Bobby Cumler singled three times. Ryan Sinclair fanned five en route to the pitching win. Hall-Dale is 1-1, Madison is 0-1.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Bates 5, Colby 0: Griff Tewksbury went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Rockwell Jackson had a pair of hits as Bates blanked the Mules in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game at Leahey Field in Lewiston.

Dan Csaplar had two hits for the Mules (14-10, 4-6 in NESCAC). Soren Hanson and Nate Ellis had the other two hits for the Mules.

Bates improved to 17-11, 5-3.

USM 13-8, Keene State 1-3: Sam Dexter went 4 for 5 with a double and a home run to lead the Huskies in the opener of a Little East Conference doubleheader. Dexter, a Messalonske graduate, drove in five runs for USM (26-8, 11-1), which banged out 17 hits.

Matt Verrier went 4 for 5 with two doubles and a home run as well. Verrier also had a two-run double in Game 2.

Erskine graduate Shylar Scates earning the win in the second game as well.
