Fire in wood pile leaves mill unscathed

MADISON — Firefighters from Anson and Madison responded to a report of a fire around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Madison Paper Industries.

The fire originated in a pile of wood debris that was ignited by sparks, said Deputy Chief Don French, of the Madison Fire Department. By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had been put out, although there was heavy smoke.

There was no damage to the mill and no injuries were reported, he said.

ARRESTS

IN FRANKLIN COUNTY, Monday, James Hodges, 41, of Industry, was arrested on the charge of violating of a protection-from-abuse order.

Tuesday, Evan Gordon, 30, of Industry was arrested on the charge of violating a condition of release.

IN SOMERSET COUNTY, Tuesday at 8:29 p.m., Adrian Arnold Chase, 40, of Skowhegan, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

IN WATERVILLE, Tuesday at 10:26 a.m., Susan N. Goodine, 32, of Hussey Road in Albion, was arrested on a warrant on Kennedy Memorial Drive.

1:01 p.m., Anne-Marie Mathieu, 51, of Gilbert Street, was arrested on a charge of violating a protection order on Gilbert Street.
