Fire in wood pile leaves mill unscathed

MADISON — Firefighters from Anson and Madison responded to a report of a fire around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Madison Paper Industries.

The fire originated in a pile of wood debris that was ignited by sparks, said Deputy Chief Don French, of the Madison Fire Department. By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had been put out, although there was heavy smoke.

There was no damage to the mill and no injuries were reported, he said.

IN FARMINGTON, Tuesday at 12:11 p.m., a motor vehicle accident involving injuries was reported on Wilton Road.

3:04 p.m., an unwanted person was reported on Red Schoolhouse Road.

IN MADISON, Tuesday at 4:42 p.m., burglary was reported on Adams Road.

IN NEW VINEYARD, Monday at 6:25 p.m., harassment was reported on New Vineyard Road.

IN PITTSFIELD, Tuesday at 1:41 p.m., a report of a disturbance was investigated on Curtis Street.

8:54 p.m., suspicious activity was reported on Crosby Street.

11:07 p.m., a report of suspicious activity was investigated on Bean’s Corner Road.

Wednesday at 1:19 a.m., suspicious activity was reported on Crosby Street.

IN SKOWHEGAN, Tuesday at 1:20 p.m., a report of shoplifting was investigated on West Front Street.

6:35 p.m., a harassment complaint was reported on Mechanic Street.

6:51 p.m., a report of loud noise was investigated on MRI Drive.

7:14 p.m., a report of suspicious activity was investigated on Oak Pond Road.

10:36 p.m., a report of suspicious activity was investigated on Madison Avenue.

Wednesday at 7:55 a.m., a report of suspicious activity was investigated on Court Street.

IN WATERVILLE, Tuesday at 9:20 a.m., a domestic dispute was reported on Gilbert Street.

10:15 a.m., a report of a domestic dispute was investigated on Gilbert Street.

4:05 p.m., a nondomestic dispute was reported on Water Street.

8:24 p.m., an unwanted person was reported at the End Zone on Elm Street.

11:03 p.m., harassment was reported on Pleasant Street.

IN WILTON, Monday at 8 a.m., suspicious activity was reported at Old TJ’s Store on Main Street.

Tuesday at 6:10 a.m., an unwanted person was reported on Main Street.

9:15 a.m., a burglary was reported on Depot Street.

 

ARRESTS

IN FRANKLIN COUNTY, Monday, James Hodges, 41, of Industry, was arrested on the charge of violating of a protection-from-abuse order.

Tuesday, Evan Gordon, 30, of Industry was arrested on the charge of violating a condition of release.

IN SOMERSET COUNTY, Tuesday at 8:29 p.m., Adrian Arnold Chase, 40, of Skowhegan, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

IN WATERVILLE, Tuesday at 10:26 a.m., Susan N. Goodine, 32, of Hussey Road in Albion, was arrested on a warrant on Kennedy Memorial Drive.

1:01 p.m., Anne-Marie Mathieu, 51, of Gilbert Street, was arrested on a charge of violating a protection order on Gilbert Street.
