CARRABASSET VALLEY — Sugarloaf closed out a ski season that was extended thanks to heavy winter snowfall and cool spring temperatures.
Spokesman Ethan Austin said the resort was once again the last one to close for the season in Maine. The season wrapped up with a final day of skiing and snowboarding on Sunday.
The resort is already looking ahead to a major event next season.
Sugarloaf will host the U.S. Alpine championships in March. The 2015 championships will be the first time the event is held in the East since 2010, when Lake Placid, N.Y., hosted the event.
