BREWER — Cony’s Payton Kennison pitched a no-hitter for the Rams on Tuesday and came within a hit batter of a perfect game. The senior right-hander struck out 15 batters in beating Brewer 8-0 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game. He struck out eight batters in a row at one point in the game and seven at another. He hit a batter in the second inning.

“His fastball was just fantastic,” Cony coach Don Plourde said. “They didn’t even foul off more than four or five pitches.”

The Rams (1-5) scored all the runs they needed with two in the first inning against Brewer starter Evan Riva. Tyler Tardiff singled and double for the Rams while Tayler Carrier and Mitchell Caron each doubled and Sean Stewart drove in a run. Brewer is 2-4.

MESSALONSKEE 3, HAMPDEN 1: The Eagles remained undefeated in KVAC A Tuesday thanks to a series of clutch plays in their win over the Broncos (2-3). Jake Dexter led off the third with a single, stole second and then advanced to third on a hit by Jonathan Wilkie. Dexter then stole home to get Messonlonskee on the scoreboard, while in the bottom of the fourth Caleb Bean’s RBI single scored Trevor Gettig for what would prove to be the game’s winning run.

Devin Ward picked up the win on the mound for the Eagles (5-0, while Dexter, who finished with two hits, came on in the seventh for the save.

SACOPEE 24, RICHMOND 0, 5 inn.: The Hawks scored 10 runs in the first innig en route to the non-conference win in Richmond. Kyle Jordan led the 17-hit attack with two doubles and two singles. Devon Day added three singles while Brady Anderson and Alex Fenderson each singled and doubled. Anthony Haskell and Anderson combined for a no-hitter. Sacopee is 5-0, Richmond is 3-1.

ERSKINE 9, BELFAST 6. 9 inn.: The Eagles scored three runs in the ninth to pull out the KVAC Class B win in Belfast. Zach Isbell, Tyler Bailey and Ryan Rodrigue each singled home runs in the inning. Rodrigue finished with two singles, a double and triple while Michale Cayouette singled three times and Isbell and Bailey each singeld twice. Luke Peabody got the pitching win in relief of Jared Gartley. Belfast is 3-3, Erskine is 2-4.

SOFTBALL

MONMOUTH 6, WINTHROP 1: The Mustangs strung together six straight hits in the fourth inning and scored all their runs in beating the Ramblers in the Mountain Valley Conference game in Monmouth. Sabrina Beck singled and tripled for the winners while teammate Corrie Meehan singled and doubled. Winning pitcher Paxton Lessard allowed one hit, struck out four and didn’t walk anyone. Monmouth is 3-1, Winthrop is 2-1.

ERSKINE 4, BELFAST 3: The Eagles (1-5) scored two runs in the top of the seventh and held on in the bottom half of the inning to earn their first win in KVAC B action Tuesday.

Mallory Chamberlain picked up the win in the circle, while Taylor Boucher and Amber Grady each finished with a pair of singles. Ashley Littlefield suffered the loss for Belfast (3-3) despite striking out 15 Erskine hitters.

OAK HILL 5, MTN. VALLEY 3: Lauren Beganny had a single, home run and four RBIs to help lead the Raiders to a KVAC B victory Tuesday. Grace Sabine added two singles for Oak Hill (3-4), while Sadie Goulet was the winning pitcher. Shannon Laubauskas had a single and a home run for the Falcons (4-3).

RICHMOND 14, SACOPEE 2 (5 INNINGS): The Bobcats plated seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to end things early Tuesday. Kelsea Anair had a double, triple and four RBIs for Richmond, Cassidy Harriman added two singles and three RBIs and Katlyn Swan chipped in with two singles and two RBIs.

Kalah Patterson had a triple, single and an RBI, while Tuesday’s winning pitcher, Miranda Martin, finished with a pair of singles. Richmond improved to 4-0 in the East-West, while Sacopee drops to 3-3.

BOYS LACROSSE

CONY 11, LEWISTON 5: Bronson Kieltyka scored four goals to lead the Rams over the Blue Devils in a KVAC A game in Augusta.

Austin Davis and Dan Erbe each scored two goals for Cony (2-2), while John Bennett, Kevin Kingsbury and Jon Saban each tallied a goal for the Rams.

Max Bolduc and Riley Bolduc each scored two goals for Lewiston (2-3).

OAK HILL 17, MTN. VALLEY 1: Kyle Flaherty posted an impressive eight goals and two assists to lead the Raiders past the Falcons Tuesday. Kaleb Sturtevant and Matt Gilbert each finished with two goals, while Alex Pomerleau, Noah Carney and Brent Mulherin each scored the first goals of their varsity careers.

Steven Gilbert and Chad Merrill each had one goal and one assist, Connor Elwell notched a pair of assists and Matty Martin stopped four of the five shots he faced in net. Coyote Freeman made 19 saves on 36 shots for Mtn. Valley.

GIRLS LACROSSE

MESSALONSKEE 13, MT. ARARAT 12: Nathalie St. Pierre, Kristen Kern and Allison Fischang each had hat tricks to help lead Messalonskee (2-1) over Mt. Ararat (1-2) Tuesday.

Mikayla Turner had a strong game as well for Messalonskee with a goal and four assists, Sydney Gagne netted a pair of scores and India Languet scored once. Lucy Guarnieri chipped in with an assist, while Sydni Collins made three saves in the win. Carly Raymond had a game-high four goals for Mt. Ararat.
