PITTSFIELD — Nate Howard and Zack Glidden combined for a five-inning no-hittter to lead Erskine to a 14-0 win against Maine Central Institute in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B baseball game Monday.

Making his first varsity start, Howard went four inings, struck out eight and walked one. Glidden struck out two without a walk.

“He was moving the ball very well,” Erskine coach Mark Bailey said of Howard. “He had the hitters really baffled.”

Caleb Cummmings led Erskine (4-4) with three singles, while Jared Gartley singled and doubled. MCI is 1-6.

MARANACOOK 3, GARDINER 0: Logan McLaughlin earned his first varsity win with a complete game three-hit shutout as Maranacook defeated Gardiner 3-0 in a KVAC B game in Readfield.

The freshman struck three and walked three. Nick Lacasse led the offense with two singles for Maranacook (4-4).

Brad Weston had a double for Gardiner (1-7).

MESSALONSKEE 10, BREWER 0, 5 innings: Freshman Josh Joy threw a two-hit shutout to win his varsity debut and lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Brewer.

Joy struck out two and needed just 49 pitches. Jake Dexter had three hits and drove in three runs for Messalonskee (7-0). Zach Mathieu and Devin Warren each had three hits for the Eagles. Brewer is now 3-5.

OAK HILL 21, BOOTHBAY 0, 5 innings: Dalton Therrien went 4-4 and had eight RBIs — including a grand slam — to lead the Raiders to a Mountain Valley Conference win in Boothbay.

Jonah and Jake Martin each hit home runs for Oak Hill (7-2). Jared Glazier, Matt Arnold and Matt Clifford combined for a no-hitter for the Raiders.

Boothbay falls to 0-6.

CONY 5, OXFORD HILLS 1: Payton Kennison pitched a two-hitter and struck out five to lead the Rams to the KVAC A win in South Paris.

Mitchell Caron highlighted Cony’s three-run first with a two-out, two-run triple. Reid Shostak added a single, double anbd RBI for the Rams (2-6). Oxford Hills is 4-3.
