PITTSFIELD — Nate Howard and Zack Glidden combined for a five-inning no-hitter to led Erskine to a 14-0 win against Maine Central Institute in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B baseball game Monday.

Making his first varsity start, Howard went four inings, struck out eight and walk one. Glidden struck out two wihtout a walk.

“He was mving the ball very well,” Erskine coach Mark Bailey said of Howard. “He had the hitters really baffled.”

Caleb Cummmings led erskine (4-4) with three singles while Jard Gartley singled and doubled. MCI is 1-6.

MESSALONSKEE 10, BREWER 0, 5 innings: Freshman Josh Joy threw a two hit shutout to win his varisty debut and lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Brewer.

Joy struck out two and needed just 49 pitches. Jake Dexter had three hits and drove in three runs for Messalonskee (7-0). Zach Mathieu and Devin Warren each had three hits for the Eagles. Brewer is now 3-5.

WATERVILLE 12, LEAVITT 2, 6 innings: Cam Gardiner hit a double and single and drove in five runs to help the Purple Panthers take the KVAC B win in Waterville.

Owen Brown hit a double and single for Waterville (7-1), while Curran Quinlan had three hits for the Panthers.

Levi Morin had a double and two singles for Leavitt (3-5).

BANGOR 15, SKOWHEGAN 2, 5 innings: Bangor scored seven runs in the third inning to take control of the KVAC A game in Bangor.

Brendan Moore had three hits for the Rams (6-2), while Sam Huston had two singles. Justin Courtney had a triple and single for Bangor.

D.J. Allen doubled for Skowhegan (2-6).

DIRIGO 7, CARRABEC 1: The Cougars scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away with the Mountain Valley Conference win in North Anson.

Kane Hutchins doubled and singled for Dirigo (6-1). Carrabec is now 3-4.

MT. ABRAM 16, MADISON 6, 5 innings: Winning pitcher Cal Dixon had two triples and Sol Fast had three hits to lead the Roadrunners to the MVC win in Salem.

Dixon, Johnny Hart and Arthur Ryan each had two singles as well for Mt. Abram (3-5).

Cody Soucier had a triple and a single to lead the Bulldogs (2-6).

MOUNT VIEW 7, MORSE 5: A big game from Dina Bilodeau helped power the Mustangs past the Shipbuilders. The junior pitcher struck out six en route to the win, had two hits and four RBIs — including a three-run homer in the top of the third. Krista Porter and Kersay Boulay had two hits as well, including a double in the top of the sixth that scored two runs to five Mount View the lead for good.

SOFTBALL

MADISON 15, MT. ABRAM 0: Emily McKenney fired a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts as Madison blanked Mt. Abram in Mountain Valley Conference softball action Monday afternoon.

McKenney faced 12 different Mt. Abram batters, and each struck out at least once. The only hit for Mt. Abram (2-6) was a single by cleanup hitter Allison Lopez with one out in the fourth inning.

Kirsten Wood belted a sixth-inning grand slam for Madison (8-0). Wood, McKenney, Aly LeBlanc, and Savanna Kandiko each contributed two hits for the Bulldogs (8-0).

SKOWHEGAN 10, BANGOR 5: The Indians pounded out 18 hits as they outslugged the Rams in Bangor

Every starter hit safely for Skowhegan (6-2). Andrea Quirion led the way with four hits, and Renee Wright added three hits. Taylor JOhnson had two hits, making her 7-for-9 over the last two games. Morgan Buker, Emma Fitzgerald, and Mikayla Toth each added two hits.

Kylie Cunningham singled twice for Bangor (6-2).

MCI 11, ERSKINE 1: Brianna Losee and Paige Topel each homered to lead the Huskies to the KVAC B win in Pittsfield.

Mikayla Carr added three singles for MCI (3-5) while Jody Bickford had a pair of hits.

Taylor Boucher and Mackenzie Gayer each had two singles for Erskine (2-6).

WINSLOW 12, OCEANSIDE 7: The Black Raiders scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to steal a 12-7 win over the Mariners in Winslow.

Winslow’s Hillary Libby singled three times, scored three runs, drove in three, and also got the win in relief. Jenna Petrovic and Hayley Pottle each chipped in with two hits and two RBIs for the Raiders (6-2).

Kalyn Grover homered and drove in three runs for Oceanside (4-4). Brooke Dugan added three singles and a double.

BREWER 4, MESSALONSKEE 3: Kylee Knight had a double and a single and Kristen Pelletier pitched a complete game but it wasn’t enough for the Eagles in Brewer.

Sam Pallegrind had a double and Meg Davis added two singles for the Witches (5-3).

Cassie Baker and Kelsey Dillon each had a pair of hits for Messalonskee (4-3) as well.

EDWARD LITTLE 17, MT. BLUE 3, 6 innings: Molly Murray pitched a four-hitter and doubled twice as the Red Eddies defeated the Cougars in Farmington.

Hannah Farrington added two hits for EL (4-3), and Kennedy Hubbard scored four runs.

Fiona Lefresne singled twice for Mt. Blue (4-4).
