ANSON — A Madison man was taken to the hospital Saturday after he allegedly was stabbed on Spear Hill Road, according to police.

“It appears that it was a relationship that had gone bad,” Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department said Monday. “It appears that the ex-boyfriend and the new boyfriend got in a fight in the driveway. There was a report that a knife may have been used but we’re still trying to figure that out.”

Police were notified at around 8 a.m. Saturday, but the scuffle reportedly happened around 12 a.m.

No criminal charges have been filed and one man was taken by ambulance to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan for an injury that was not life-threatening, said Lancaster. Police did not release the names of those involved.

The incident was initially reported to the Madison Police Department but the investigation was later turned over to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.
