SOUTH CHINA — Jared Gartley came on in relief in the first inning and pitched the rest of the way to lead Erskine to a 9-6 win against Medomak Valley in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B baseball action Friday.

The senior also belted a solo homer.

Ryan Rodrigue singled, doubled and drove in three runs for Erskine (5-7) while teammate Tyler Bailey singled and doubled. Luke Peabody singled twice. Michael Wiliamson had two singles and a double for Medomak (3-9) while Ollie Brown singled and doubled.

MESSALONSKEE 8, BRUNSWICK 7: The Eagles scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the KVAC A win in Oakland.

Johnathan Wilkie’s sacrifice fly scored the tying run, then the Eagles (9-2) took the lead when Caleb Bean reached on an error.

Jake Dexter doubled and singled for Messalonskee. Charlie Lowell and Ryan Maciejewski each doubled for Brunswick (6-6).

MONMOUTH 19-5, LISBON 1-3: Kyle Fletcher tripled in game two of a Mountain Valley Conference doubleheader to help the Mustangs sweep the Greyhounds.

In game one, Monmouth (12-1) scored 10 runs in the fifth inning. Phil Rowe hit a three-run triple for the Mustangs. He also rove in four runs in game one. Hunter Richardson, Alex Curtis, Jariah Caissie and Jake Weeks each had three hits for Monmouth in game one. Fletcher earned the win.

Lisbon is now 9-4.

SOFTBALL

ERSKINE 12, MEDOMAK 5: The Eagles scored five runs in the second and fifth innings en route to the KVAC B in South China. Mallory Chamberlain, Emma Robertson, Avery Bond and Mackenzie Gayer had two hits apiece for Erskine (3-9). Chamberlain struck out eight to earn the win. Medomak dropped to 4-8.

OAK HILL 20, WISCASSET 0: Sadie Goulet had two triples, a single, and four RBIs to lead the Raiders to the MVC win in Wales.

Kelsey Collins added three singles and three RBIs for Oak Hill (7-6) while Jamie Prue had a triple, a double and three RBIs, Brooke Surette three singles and Sara Hoel, Kayla Veilleux and Makayla Nadeau each added two singles and an RBI.

MONMOUTH 4-3, LISBON 3-5: The Mustangs split an MVC doubleheader in Monmouth.

Becki Bryant fanned eight to earn the win for Monmouth in the first game while Sabrina Beck singled twice. In the second game, Molly Nicholson singled and hit a two-run homer to lead the Greyhounds. Shannon Buzzell singled twice and doubled for Monmouth while Kylie Kemp singled and doubled. Lisbon is 4-8, Monmouth is 8-5.

MESSALONSKEE 14, BRUNSWICK 2: Kassi Michaud pitched a four-hitter, striking out eight and walking none, to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Oakland.

Kirsten Pelletier had two singles and an RBI for Messalonskee (7-4) while Kylee Knight added two singles.

Shelby Plourde doubled for Brunswick.

GIRLS LACROSSE

CONY 19, PORTLAND 13: Hayley Quirion scored seven goals to lead the Rams to the Eastern A win at Kents Hill.

Bayleigh Logan scored five goals and two assists while Mary Kirschner added three goals for the Rams (7-2).

Emily Quirion scored two goals while Haley Hanks and Becca Coniff also scored.

GARDINER 16, MTN. VALLEY 1: Alex Nadeau, Jake Truman and Michale Glazier each scored three goals to lead the Tigers to the Class B win in Rumford. Walker Norton and Skylar McMillan each scored two for the winners. Logan Clark, Josh Caldwell and Adrian Heath also scored. Coyote Freeman made 17 saves for Mountain Valley (1-7) while J.D. Crocker and Spencer King combined to make for Gardiner (7-2).

MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 15, MORSE 4: Zach Glazier had five goals while Denver Cram had four goals and three assists to lead the Hawks to the key Eastern B victory.

Toby Smith three goals and two assists for Maranacook/Winthrop (9-0) as well. Logan Emery chipped in with a pair of goals as well.

Oliver Kruze scored two goals to pace the Shipbuilders (7-2).
