Imagine a free community resource Augusta residents have loved for years getting much-needed repairs and expansion — and it won’t cost us a dime. That’s what’s at stake in the vote on June 10.

Lithgow Library has been an Augusta treasure since 1896. The beautiful historic building has been a feature of the Augusta landscape since then, and many of our children (mine included) have learned to love reading within its doors.

After all these years, it desperately needs repair and expansion. It’s been in bad shape for a long time, but it can now move forward with an exciting plan. If approved by voters, the new space will include a large children’s area, many more computers, a designated teen space and a conference room available to local groups. As always, everything Lithgow offers is free.

So please join me in voting for a new and better Lithgow Library on June 10. This project won’t cost Augusta taxpayers one penny, and its rewards will be immeasurable.
