One person hurt, one charged in fight

RICHMOND — One person was injured and another charged after a Monday night fight that police described as a melee.

Richmond Police Chief Scott MacMaster said police were called shortly before 11 p.m. Monday to a single-car crash near 274 Weeks Road. Officers arrived to find several people fighting outside a nearby home.

MacMaster said the fight broke out after the car, a light-colored Ford Mustang convertible carrying two or three people, crashed into the ditch. The car occupants got out and began to leave. As they did so they passed a nearby house where a man, a guest at the home, made derogatory remarks to those who had been in the crash.

One of the people from the Mustang then threw a firework on the lawn and a fight ensued, MacMaster said.

“As far as we can tell four people were fighting,” MacMaster said. “Three people were involved in the accident.”

One of the people in the fight, the man who confronted the fireworks thrower, was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick with a head cut, an eye injury and a bruise on his chest, where he had been bitten.

Police searching for the Mustang driver went to his home, where he had been before the crash, MacMaster said. While there they arrested Brittany Pelletier, 23, of Fort Kent, on a charge of violating conditions of release.

Sagadahoc County Sheriff Deputies as well as State Police responded to the incident, MacMaster said. Police are still investigating.
