GARDINER — Kristal Smith hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to help her own cause on the mound as the Gardiner softball team edged Winslow 3-0 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B game Saturday morning.

Smith pitched the complete game, striking out 12 and walking just one. She allowed just four hits. The Tigers (15-0) plated two more runs in the sixth inning.

Winslow dropped to 8-4.

BASEBALL

RICHMOND 18, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 1: Tyler Soucy had four hits and five RBIs and Bailey Johanson hit a grand slam to lead the Bobcats in Richmond.

Colin Acord had three hits and drove in three for Richmond (10-1).

GPC dropped to 0-10.

Erskine 7, Maranacook 1: The Eagles used a four-run second inning to secure the win in Readfield.

Zach Isbell singled three times for Erskine (7-8). Andrew Browne, Ryan Rodrigue and Tyler Bailey added two hits apiece. On the mound, Jared Gartley went six innings and Nate Howard went one to combine on a three-hitter.

Cam Brochu homered for Maranacook’s only run. Matt Delmar and Kent Mohlar both had singles for the Black Bears (5-10).

Winslow 6, Gardiner 1: Dylan Hapworth, Trevor Lovely and Jake Trask combined on a three-hitter as the Black Raiders defeated the Tigers in Gardiner.

Ben Smith singled and doubled for Winslow (11-3). Taylor Roy also had two hits, while Lovely bopped an RBI triple and Alex Berard added a two-run double.

For Gardiner (2-13), Josh Mashke doubled and Ryan Kelley and Brady Smith each had a single.

HALL-DALE 4, CARRABEC 2: Ryan Sinclair had a double and a single to lead the Bulldogs to the Mountain Valley Conference win in North Anson.

Bobby Cumler, Sam Moulton, Taylor Lockhart and Alex McPherson each had a single for Hall-Dale (8-6). Brian Allen pitched a complete game for the win.

Dustin Crawford led Carrabec (7-7) with two singles while Will Crawford, Tyler Reichert, Trent Richardson, Levi Murray and Richard Layton each singled.

CONY 6, SKOWHEGAN 2: Tayler Carrier hit a solo home run and a single to lead the Rams to the KVAC A win in Augusta.

Mitchell Bonenfant added an RBI double for Cony (8-6).

Nate Morris had two singles and an RBI for Skowhegan (7-8).

GIRLS LACROSSE

CONY 11, MT. ARARAT 6: Bayleigh Logan scored four goals to lead the Rams to the Class A win in Topsham.

Hayley Quirion added two goals and two assists for Cony (8-3) while Emily Quirion had two goals. Becca Coniff and Haley Hanks each had a goal and an assist and Hilary Tyler chipped in with a goal. Izzy Eames made nine saves.

Sierra Gilley and Carly Raymond each scored two goals for Mt. Ararat (5-6). Bailey Sullivan made eight saves.

GREELY 15, GARDINER 4: Jocelyn Mitieuy scored three goals to lead the Rangers to the Class B win. Megan Dorsey, Teal Otley, Gabby Bouchard and Brenna Martin each had two goals. Krystyna Rybka made six saves.

Ally Day led Gardiner (7-4) with two goals while Abby Dunn and Claire Crocker scored one each. Maddy Cutler made 10 saves.

BOYS LACROSSE

MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 16, GARDINER 11: Denver Cram had seven goals and three assists to lead the Hawks to the Class B win in Kents Hill.

Toby Smith added three goals and two assists for the Hawks (11-0) while Zach Glazier had two goals and two assists and Alex Tooth two goals and an assist. Zach Bissette stopped 15 shots.

Josh Caldwell had four goals for Gardiner (8-3) and Adrian Heath had three. J.D. Crocker made 14 saves.
