SKOWHEGAN — Andy Valley came out of the loser’s bracket to defeat Messalonskee twice and win the 12U Cal Ripken state tournament Tuesday at the Carl Wright Complex.
Andy Valley won 14-1 in five innings in Game 1 and then went on to win 11-1 in four innings.
In the first game, Wyatt Williamson earned the win while Rodney Bean hit a home run, a double and a single. Jake Mills addded a double and two singles while Janek Luksza doubled and singled for Andy Valley. In the second game, Luksza earned the win on the mound while also adding a triple and two singles. Bean homered in Game 2 as well and Matt Johnson chipped in with two doubles.
For Messalonskee, Dylan Cunningham had a triple, Tyler Williams had two singles and Mason Violette and Hunter Smith each singled for the day.
