Gardiner woman still in hospital after crash

AUGUSTA — A Gardiner woman hurt when she crashed her motorcycle on Western Avenue Sunday remains hospitalized.

Augusta Police Sgt. Christopher Shaw said 53-year-old Karen O’Donnell remains in serious condition at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

O’Donnell was driving east with a group on Western Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Sunday when she hit a pothole created by road construction area near Woodside Road. O’Donnell was thrown from her motorcycle.

She was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to the hospital with serious injuries.

O’Donnell was wearing a helmet, Shaw said.

The section of Western Avenue was closed for about 30 minutes.

Shaw said neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Augusta man struck by car on Memorial Circle

AUGUSTA — An Augusta man was injured Thursday when he was struck by a car on Memorial Circle.

George Tabor, 64, was taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with what were believed to be minor injuries, said Augusta Police Sgt. Christopher Shaw.

Tabor was crossing in a crosswalk on Memorial Circle when he was struck by a car being driven by 32-year-old Melinda Folsom of Augusta. Shaw said Folsom had stopped at the Western Avenue intersection and was looking left for traffic to merge into the rotary. She didn’t see Tabor in front of her, Shaw said.

The road was closed briefly while crews tended to Tabor.

There are no charges in connection to the accident, Shaw said.
