DENMARK — Two Maine volunteer fire departments will receive federal grants to purchase new equipment.

The Denmark Volunteer Fire Department in Oxford County will receive $157,510 and Sullivan Volunteer Fire Association in Hancock County will get $61,560. Denmark’s grant will help fund a new mini-pumper truck. Sullivan will use its money to purchase 12 new breathing apparatuses for firefighters.

The money is from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.

Rep. Mike Michaud announced the funding and says it will be used “to arm our first responders with the newest and most effective equipment available.”
