And so it continues, from his removing the labor mural from the Labor Department to his most recent comment of Social Security and Medicare as welfare.
In between Gov. Paul LePage has continually been quoted as characterizing state employees as dishonest, incompetent and lazy. He has robbed elderly retirees’ pensions, refused Medicare expansion and cut revenue sharing. He has characterized all welfare recipients as indolent and undeserving.
His recent Social Security and Medicare comments are now subject to his customary attempts to reassemble Humpty Dumpty.
The governor is the head of the Republican Party in Maine and speaks for the party. His statements are echoed by national Republicans such as Perry, Santorum, Bachman, Palin, Christie, Paul, et. al. Remember Christie’s pledge to bring resources to Maine from the Republican Governors Association to re-elect LePage.
