Tibetan Lama to give workshop in Augusta

AUGUSTA — Tibetan Lama Chongtul Rinpoche will present a weekend workshop “Tibetan Goddess Healing: Sipi Gyalmo” from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and Sunday at the Viles Arboretum, 153 Hospital St.

Chongtul Rinpoche grew up in India and studied philosophy. He was the director of a Bön monastery in India and now resides in America and teaches Tibetan philosophy.

The workshop will cover ancient Tibetan healing and meditation techniques.

Bön is the indigenous religion of Tibet, and Sipi Gyalmo is the most important protector deity in Tibetan Bon. The ancient healing practice of Sipi Gyalmo enables one to bring balance to one’s health.

All are welcome to attend, particularly healing arts professionals and those interested in Tibetan culture and meditation.

Summer worship planned Sunday in Readfield

READFIELD — Jesse Lee Meeting House will be the site of a summer worship, with morning prayer 8:30 a.m., Sunday. Music by Sally Joy and Kristi White is scheduled for 7 p.m.
