A Lewiston woman was killed on Sunday after she lost control of the car she was driving on Buxton Road in Saco and crashed into a telephone pole.

Samantha R. Sabourin, 22, of Bruce St., was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash around 2:07 a.m. at 458 Buxton Road, Saco police said on Monday.

Witnesses reported seeing the silver 2005 Ford Focus that Sabourin was driving heading westbound on Buxton Road at a high speed and pass several vehicles before she lost control and struck a telephone pole, Deputy Police Chief Jeffrey Holland said in a written statement.

Sabourin’s car rolled over after striking the telephone pole and came to a rest on its driver’s side.

Police said the accident investigation is ongoing and that preliminary findings indicate alcohol and speed were factors that led to the crash.
