AUGUSTA — A local man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly following women into the bathroom at Panera Bread.

Alexander Meserve, 21, of Augusta, was arrested by police after a worker from the restaurant called police late Friday afternoon to report a man was displaying odd behavior, including sprinting to the women’s bathroom and following women into the bathroom, according to Sgt. Christopher Shaw.

The manager of the restaurant escorted Meserve out of the bathroom. The suspect then allegedly yelled and acted aggressively toward the manager, continuing to yell as he willingly walked outside.

Shaw said police recognized Meserve from his description and spoke to him outside of the restaurant. Shaw said became animated while an officer was talking to him, and was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, after he was previously warned for disorderly conduct.
