The website for the parent company of Madison Paper contradicts the tax assessor’s findings.

One major reason given for the drop in value of Madison Paper, (Aug. 11 article, “Value of Madison paper mill drops $150 million,”) was that printed paper cannot compete with digital media. Although the demand for printed paper is not growing in the western world, as the paper company claims, the UPM website (www.upm.com) says it is growing rapidly in other places such as China.

According to the website, the paper business is not declining at all. There is a video up on the website talking about this very thing. I would encourage all Madison residents especially those in charge, to check out the UPM website to get an idea of how huge this company actually is.
