Maine game wardens have recovered the body of a Bar Harbor man who apparently drowned Sunday in Donnell Pond in Franklin.
Ian MacDonnell, 33, had jumped from a stopped 16-foot Bayliner motorboat to retrieve a water bottle when he went under the surface and did not come back up, witnesses told the Maine Warden Service. The incident happened at about 5 p.m.
MacDonnell was not a strong swimmer and went under even though friends who were on the boat threw him a rope, warden said.
Searchers worked into the evening to find MacDonnell and resumed the search Monday morning.
His body was located at 10 a.m., the warden service said.
