AUGUSTA — Viles Arboretum, 153 Hospital St., will hold its third annual 5K trail race and walk — “Run for the Trees” — at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13.

The course will travel over mowed grass trails, Maine’s second-longest board walk, through forest and botanical collections from around the world and an outdoor sculpture collection. Musicians will play in the forest during the race.

Prizes will be awarded for overall and in each age category. Food will be served following the race. Participants can register on the day of the race or online at www.runreg.com.

The race conincides with the arboretum’s Sculpture Symposium. Ten nationally known artists will be on the arboretum grounds designing and creating stone sculpture. Attendees are welcome to meet the artists and observe them at work.
