BANGOR – Bangor’s fire department is without a chief, at least temporarily, because city officials have placed him on a paid leave of absence.

Assistant City Manager Robert Farrar said Chief Scott Lucas is on a “non-disciplinary paid leave of absence.” He declined to offer any further details.

WZON-AM reported that police were called to Central Fire Station on Friday because of a personnel matter and that Scott was escorted away.

A day later, he was placed on paid leave.

Lucas announced this month that he’s planning to resign when his contract expires Dec. 3. It’s now unclear if he’ll finish the contract.

He could not be reached for comment. There was no phone listing in his name.
