On Sunday, Aug. 10, my friend Judi Karp and I became lost in the woods near Mount Pisgah. We tried retracing our steps for an hour and a half with no success. We then found a small clearing where we could sit down. We dialed 911. The clearing became our “home” for the next three hours as we followed the advice to “stay put.” The help we received via cellphone was clear, calm and caring. We were found by 3:45 p.m.

We want to again express our appreciation to the game warden, Winthrop police and volunteers for rescuing us. They did a great job.
