As a retired public school teacher, I know firsthand about the financial difficulties facing our public schools. Simply put, public schools have been starved for revenue for years. We need to fund eduction at the (twice) voter-mandated 55 percent.
As for health care deficiencies, I work with people in the Restorative Justice Project in Waldo County who suffer because health care is being denied to low-income men and women who need drug treatment. Maine’s uninsured population continues to rise, one of only two states in the country. The refusal of our governor to allow federal Medicaid money into Maine contributes to this crisis.
Please vote for Jonathan Fulford on Nov 4 for state Senate in Waldo County. Jonathan has the determination and stamina to move our state out of this dual crisis that must be resolved as soon as possible.
