Four players are finalists for the Miss Maine Field Hockey Award, and three are from central Maine schools.
The finalists are Skowhegan’s Rylie Blanchet, Cony’s Arika Brochu, Mount View’s Kersey Boulay, and Scarborough’s Maddy Dobecki. All four players were all-state selections last season.
The Miss Maine Field Hockey Award is given annually the top senior player in the state. The winner announced at the Maine Field Hockey Association’s annual banquet, which is usually held in early December at the Augusta Civic Center.
Blanchet, a center midfielder, missed some time this season with a concussion, but returned to lead Skowhegan to the No. 1 seed in Eastern A.
Brochu plays both midfield and forward for the Rams, and is also the flier on Cony’s defensive penalty corners. Cony is the No. 5 seed in Eastern A and faces Mt. Blue in the quarterfinals.
Boulay is Mount View’s center midfielder and lifted the Mustangs to the No. 4 seed in Eastern C. Mount View tied Gardiner, the top seed in Eastern B, and lost in overtime to Winslow, the No. 1 seed in Eastern C.
Dobecki has led Scarborough to a 14-0 record and the top seed in Western A. The Red Storm have outscored their opponents, 82-2, this season. York is the only other team in the state that is both unbeaten and untied.
