AUGUSTA — Haunting of the Hill Mansion charity event will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Governor Hill Mansion, 136 State St.

The nationally recognized group Maine Ghost Hunters will conduct ghost hunting tours of the mansion. There are no gimmicks or fake ghosts — if anything is spotted or heard on the tours, it will be authentic paranormal activity, according to a news release from the Friends of Lithgow Library.

An auction of mystical items from Merkaba Sol will begin at 7 p.m. A tarot card reader will provide individual readings.

From 8 to 11 p.m., there will be a 1960s-themed Halloween costume contest and dance with a Surf Band featuring Beach Boys-style music. Cabaret seating will be provided during the party and dance.

Admission costs $40 per person. With dance admission, the ghost tour or tarot readings are optional and cost $20 or $10, respectively. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Save Lithgow Library Campaign.

Tickets can be purchased at the Merkaba Sol, 153 Water St.; online at www.hauntedmansion.brownpapertickets.com; or by calling 800-838-3006.
