As a child and family therapist, I work with children of all ages within the foster care system. I’m all-too familiar with the outcome when policies are lacking and children fall through the cracks. Sen. Colleen Lachowicz, D-Waterville, knows as well, having worked in the trenches with children and families.

Tired of patchwork solutions, she took action. She brought those stories to the State House to make a difference for Maine’s children. Colleen worked to find practical solutions that would gain bipartisan support. By co-sponsoring and working hard on a bill for kids who age out of the foster care system, more children will get support while they pursue degrees or vocational training. She also works with national organizations and former foster children to secure funds, including funds from non-state sources, so we don’t have to use our tax dollars.

This Nov. 4, I’ll be voting for Colleen for Senate.
