UNITY – Sebasticook Regional Land Trust will hold its fourth annual Local Foods Feast and Film event on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Unity College Center for the Performing Arts, 42 Depot St.

The event features locally grown and produced goods from central Maine and will begin with an assortment of cheeses served at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available. During the meal, the land trust will celebrate its 10th anniversary. The gathering will also serve as the organization’s annual membership meeting.

After the benefit dinner, there will be a screening of the new film “DamNation” at 7:30 p.m. With majestic cinematography and unexpected discoveries this film festival favorite shows how far things have moved and how quickly from the assumption 50 years ago that dams were always a power for good, to the first successful attempt to remove a marginal dam 20 years ago on the Kennebec River. The film highlights other dam removal stories in Maine, Washington and Oregon, and explores the hange in attitude from pride in big dams as engineering wonders to the growing awareness that the future is bound to the life and health of our rivers, according to a news release from the land trust.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit Sebasticook Regional Land Trust’s conservation efforts.
