FARMINDALE — The Opus One Big Band will be at Hall-Dale High School for a benefit concert and dance on Saturday, Nov. 1. The audience is welcome to sit and listen or swing dance. Swing dance lessons will start at 6:30 p.m. and the band will play from 7 to 9:15 p.m.

The Opus One Big Band has been playing for over twenty years and is under the direction of Dale Perkins. Band members include Gary Walker, Mike Scarpone, Tom Stott, Joe Kingston and Jason Ward on saxaphone; John Foss, Gary Comingore, Scott Davis, John Reeves and Pat Michaud on trumpet; Larry Morrisseette, Dan Labonte, Penny Kingstson and Emily Widdoes on trombone; Jim Perkins, Dan Schneider, Sean Finn and Ken Labrecque in the rhythm section; and vocalist, Suzanne Proulx. The band will play favorities and lesser-known tunes in the tradition of Benny Goodman, Jimmy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and other musicians in that genre.

Admission costs $10 for adults and $6 for students. There will also be a bake sale and 50/50 raffle. All proceeds benefit the Hall-Dale High School music students and their trip to Boston.
