I recently received a flier in the mail from the Ray Bates campaign. In it, he criticizes Lori Fowle’s voting record in the Maine House. The flier skews the facts of Rep. Fowle’s votes about welfare reform to the point of deceitful distortion. Bates is simply attempting to make political hay by twisting the fair and well thought through votes of Rep. Fowle, D-Vassalboro.

All of Rep. Fowle’s votes protected the most vulnerable people in Maine, single mothers. Her votes assured the undeclared war on women by this current administration lost one more battle.

Bates never proposed his own plan to fix welfare, only that he would follow the pack.

Rep. Fowle’s voting record allows Mainers dignity, bestows understanding and kindness, but most of all heralds from the halls of Augusta a belief in Maine and her people.

Bates sent me partisan politics and specious claims.
